LASER Cladding Technology

The Principle Of LASER Cladding Technology

The laser cladding technique refers to the use of the high energy density of a laser source to melt a metal powder or wire onto the substrate to form a deposited layer (a particular functional layer). The combination between the deposited layer and the surface of the substrate is metallurgical bond, of which the substrate melt depth is very shallow and the dilution rate of the particular functional layer is comparably low, thus the surface property of the substrate part can be changed as needed, for example to achieve a particular functional layer for a higher wear resistant, corrosion resistant, high temperature resistant or oxidation resistant on low grade component surface.

Technology Advantage Of Hengli

  • Small deformation: the heating and cooling process of laser is very fast, thus the heat affected zone is very limited. All this will provide a benefit that no re-finishing process is needed after hardening of surface phase transition;
  • Good strengthening effect, high density of the cladding layer, hardness and the wear resistance can be improved simultaneously;
  • The specific coating technology developed by Hengli for marine applications makes sure the coating features excellent corrosion and wear resistance at the same time.
  • Applicable to wide range of applications, high flexibility, can be adapted to a variety of complex shapes.
